Scuba Diving
Mozambique is one of the top 10 diving destinations in the world. The diving around the Bazaruto Archipelago is magnificent. You need to see it to believe it!
Double dive 4,700 Meticais pp, includes luncheon. Plus 400 Mets for National Park tickets (must be cash)
Discover scuba and PADI scuba courses (Open Water, Advanced, Rescue and Dive Master) available on request.
Snorkeling
There are several stunning snorkeling places around the Bazaruto Archipelago. The most famous one is The Aquarium (West of two mile reef)
2,300 Meticais pp, including luncheon. Plus 400 Mets for National Park tickets.
Fishing
If you are a fisherman (or woman) this is the place to be. The deep sea fishing in this area is world renowned.
Half day $350 + $2-3 p/ltr of fuel
Full day $500 + $2-3 p/ltr of fuel
Marlin $700 + $2-3 p/ltr of fuel
(Includes skipper, gillie, bait and all fishing gear. Excludes National Park ticket.)
Island ‘dhow’ trips
Relaxed and traditional day trips to the islands. Sailing on a dhow, snorkeling, strolling along the white deserted beaches.
Different dhow trips are available to the different islands.
Prices range from 2 600 to 2,800 Meticais per person. Including snorkeling gear, coffee, tea, lunch and National Park tickets. (Overnight stays also available on request)
Whale Watching
Between July and October if you head out into the sea you’ll have a chance to see migrating hump back whales who mate and calve in these warm waters.

Kite Surfing
Casa Rex is the base for kite surfing in Vilankulo! Try a kite surfing baptism, learn how to kite surf level 1 and level 2 or hire equipment and join a kiting safari.
Beginners Course:

Stand Up Paddling
Experience one of the ultimate water activities. Suitable for beginners or more experienced paddlers families, or individuals. The blue and calm waters of Vilanculos’ bay are ideal for board paddling.

Vilankulo cultural guided tour
For those who are interested in the culture of Vilankulo and Mozambique, Faquiri is the best guide to show you around. He’ll take you to the market, church, orphanage and will tell you all about the interesting history of this special place.
$20 per person (aprox. 2 h tour) Includes transport.
Horse Riding
Horse riding along the beach, to the dunes or around the lakes or even swimming with the horses. Great experience to get into nature and a must for the horse lovers. (Beginners also included)

No transport included ($20 per car return for transport to stables)
Massages
If you really want to treat yourself… there are a few masseuses in town and they can come to Casa Rex, so you don’t even have to travel.

Bird watching tour/Canoeing trip
Spot some of our magnificent birds under the guidance of our local expert. Or take a canoe trip along the river.
$40pp for each activity. Includes transport and snack. ($50 if only two people).
Other dining venues
In addition to Casa Rex’s popular a la carte restaurant, there are several other restaurants in Vilankulo: Casbah, Donna Ana, Pescador, Samara, Veranda, Casa Guci, Beach Bum sports bar & Kilimanjaro and Kuvuka coffee shops for a light snack.
3 course dinner is about $30 per person
Craft Shopping & Tours
The market is the place to purchase capolana’s (traditional patterned fabric). Machilla Magic Gallery, next to Beach Lodge offers a variety of local handcrafts and Papagayo, opposite Taurus, specialises in international handcraft. A craft fair is held at Beach Bums on the first Sunday of every month.
The Easter Craft and Cultural Day Tour to the Training Centre in Macunhe (20kms North of Vilankulo) will be on Wednesday the 16th April. The Christmas Craft and Cultural Day tour will be on 16th & 30th December. This is a day trip where you learn to make traditional craft and foods. On the return journey you will visit Machilla Magic Gallery before being dropped back at your accommodation.
1700 mets per person includes transport, a traditional lunch and entrance fee.
In addition you can of course swim in the sea, or choose to relax around the pool with a good book!
